A community gym in Blackburn has new management at the helm and is undergoing a revamp.
The male and female gyms at Bangor Street Community Centre will now be managed by the community centre itself. Formerly, MyGym@Bangor was managed by Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living, who are also still tenants at the building.
The transfer of the equipment took place in April and the community centre, based off Calder Street in Bastwell, is hoping to attract new members in the coming year.
The gyms are presently said to be the cheapest in town offering a full years membership for £85 and half year membership for £55.
The male gym based on the ground floor has been redecorated in recent weeks and there also plans to invest in the female gyms, based on the second floor during the summer.
Centre Manager, Iqbal Bhai said: “We have kept the prices manageable as we are focussed on assisting the health and wellbeing of people of all ages within the local community.
“The gyms are ideally placed for those who live within walking distance of the centre. We have a lot of members who have been coming here for many years for that very reason.
“We have started to invest in the gyms and the male weights room and the cardio room have both had a bit of makeover this month.
“We are hoping to do the same to the female gyms in the summer.”
