The Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living team host a number of fitness and health related sessions tailored to the local community throughout the week.

Healthy Living also arrange a number of community workshops which have proved to be popular.

They also manage the two male and female gyms at the Community Centre. Membership for these is only £75 a year.

One of the oldest community groups in the town the Blackburn Hindu Centre aims to keep the cultural and religious traditions of the Hindu Community alive and pass them on to future generations. The group host a number of major festivals, and organise excursions to places of interest in the UK and abroad.

One of the longest established football teams in the area, Blackburn United run a number of coaching activities and eighteen teams for both seniors and juniors in Blackburn.  This includes two girls teams and one ladies team.

The award winning One Voice Blackburn has gone from strength to strength since it was established. They have a popular scout group, a girls’ group and a number of sports groups.

Purple Patch

Purple Patch, a non-profit organisation was established by qualified tutors (SEN) in 2014, aiming to address the unmet needs of disabled people, in particular, but not exclusively, those from an ethnic minority heritage.

Purple Patch aim to create an innovative and a more inclusive service provision based on the Social Model of Disability. Support packages are individualised, creative and flexible.

Their tailored services include 1:1 outreach work, independent living training, life skills, development programmes and social workshops. This includes cooking, dressing, using a washing machine and English and maths lessons.
